The MTV Movie & TV Awards continue to forge a path of diversity, inclusion and all-around awesomeness. Last year, the network tentpole revamped its award parameters, doing away with gendered categories and doling out buckets of golden popcorn to those who helped produce the best of film, television and digital media.
This year, Girls Trip actress Tiffany Haddish will host the ceremony.
Haddish is pumped, to say the least. The star shared a video with her 1.8 million Instagram followers to announce the news. “It’s gonna be off the chain,” said Haddish. “Because you know why? I’m hosting! And you know what that means ― it’s gonna be hilarious.”

Haddish is a renaissance woman in the entertainment industry. She’s a stand-up comedian, and New York Times best-selling author of The Last Black Unicorn, a collection of irreverent personal essays.
In 2017, Haddish starred in Girls Trip, and starred on Comedy Central’s raunchy animated series, Legends of Chamberlain Heights. She won NAACP Image Awards for her work in both roles.
Haddish and MTV are a match made in movie and TV award heaven—the ebullient star clearly knows how to make folks laugh. Haddish managed to become Groupon’s official spokesperson, after she shared an anecdote about the discount service site that was so hilarious, it went viral.
