Gettin Our Comic Con On

The annual San Diego Comic Con is home to diehard fans celebrating their favorite comic books, movies, TV shows, and characters with outlandish costumes, fan activations, and packed panel discussions. With deep stables of iconic properties, Viacom’s MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon helped drive the festival’s excitement, giving hardcore fans a close-up dose of their favorite shows. Viacom booths integrated fans into their worlds while panel events with cast members and producers connected them with beloved characters. And all three brands teased upcoming or current shows, including MTV’s Scream, Comedy Central’s Moonbeam City, and Nick’s Pig Goat Banana Cricket.

Check out what each brand served up to its fans during the event:

MTV:

To promote their new Scream TV series, MTV’s booth allowed participants to stand in front of the infamous masked phantom as they swung their weapon of choice. With movie studio-quality slow motion (1200 frames per second), and dismembered body parts thrown into the frame, fans appeared to be hacking away at off-screen villains. Afterward, they received digital copies that could be shared on social media. Fans packed panels featuring cast members and executive producers of Teen Wolf, and new shows Scream and The Shannara Chronicles. MTV also hosted the second annual Fandom Awards for fans whose rabid commitment and excitement has helped transform shows with small, cult followings into mainstream favorites.

Comedy Central:

Comedy Central crafted activations unique to particular shows, such as Drunk History’s 360 degree photo booth, Another Period’s free transportation in vintage cars and butler-carried chaise lounges, and The Meltdown with Johnah and Kumail’s free stand-up show. Brand-wide activations included Comedy Central merchandise prizes, as well as a nine-hole mini golf course and GIF booth featuring Broad City, Review, Key & Peele, @Midnight with Chris Hardwick, Workaholics, Inside Amy Schumer, Another Period, Why? With Hannibel Burress, and Moonbeam City. Panels showcased new types of comedic programming with creators, directors and cast members discussing Drunk History, Another Period and the upcoming Moonbeam City.
