The power of Viacom’s brands is rooted in their ubiquity — “Made Here. Lives Everywhere” is how we think of it. As of this week, that everywhere now includes long-time music-streaming leader Spotify.
Spotify rolled out a host of new features this week that transform the app into a one-stop entertainment shop. Among the recently announced additions is video capabilities and key partnerships with content providers, including Viacom’s MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central.
“Spotify’s young, digital-first customers are the same sophisticated audiences who are enjoying Viacom’s popular programming on their TV and mobile devices, and we’re thrilled to be joining with Spotify to provide an innovative new way to share clips from some of our best TV programming,” said Viacom’s Joey Molko. “We are always pleased to be a lead launch partner for new digital video platforms, and look forward to working with Spotify to help them continue to broaden their service.”
Viacom puts a premium on finding creative ways to reach our audience where they already are, innovating alongside the newest distribution models and platforms. Spotify Founder and CEO Daniel EK called the recent changes a “deeper, richer, more immersive Spotify experience,” and we are excited to be part of it.
